Due to the covid pandemic, I am currently unable to meet with you face to face indoors. Appointments are offered by phone, FaceTime, WhatsApp, Skype, or Zoom, whichever works best for you. Alternatively why not ask for an ecotherapy appointment? Therapy conducted outdoors is becoming increasingly popular (see below).

Telephone 0749 100 4397 or email sandymcafee@protonmail.com to discuss or arrange a consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Individual and couple psychotherapy: addressing a wide range of mental health and wellbeing difficulties, such as anxiety, stress, depression, marital and sexual difficulties, recurrent relationship issues, trauma and PTSD, childhood traumas including abusive and neglectful relationships, anger, shame, guilt, and work related issues such as loss of confidence, burnout and bullying. I am able to offer a range of psychological therapies (e.g. cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion focused therapy (CFT) to name a few) and to integrate and blend these collaboratively with you, according to what serves you best.

Ecotherapy: this is the term for the health and wellbeing benefits we get from being in and interacting with nature. This includes everything from the pictures of nature you hang on your wall, what you can see out your window, to what you do and where you go when you leave your home. Therapy conducted in nature (e.g. walking therapy in the countryside, and group therapeutic activities) is becoming increasingly popular as a way to deliver and receive psychological treatments alongside the other benefits of ecotherapy.

Memory assessment and rehabilitation: in addition to psychotherapy I am also a specialist in memory problems. I have extensive experience of neuropsychological assessment of memory difficulties and dementia, and working with individuals, couples and families to help address these difficulties. If you or someone you love is concerned about their memory or you are concerned about dementia please get in touch for a detailed and professional assessment consultation.

Therapy for therapists: with evidence of increasing levels of depression, staff stress, ill-health and burnout affecting psychological therapists over the past decade (e.g. https://www.bps.org.uk/news-and-policy/new-savoy-survey-shows-increasing-mental-health-problems-nhs-psychotherapists) the need to support colleagues with therapy for therapists has never been greater. Please get in touch if these issues affect you.

Supervision: I am happy to offer clinical supervision for your psychological intervention work. This is available to clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors, and other psychological practitioners from other backgrounds such as mental health nursing. With more than 30 years experience and more than 1000 sessions of supervision delivered to numerous trainees, colleagues and mental health professionals I am looking forward to working with you to help you think about your cases and to develop your practitioner skills. Supervision is provided in line with British Psychological Society supervision guidelines.

Training: one of the things I enjoy more than most is offering training courses. I’ve run numerous courses over the years and have been a regular contributor to clinical psychology and CBT training programmes on a range of subjects. Please get in touch if you would like me to deliver a course in your locality.
